The university is completely dependent on information that we both consume, produce and share. In order for the information to be used for what it is intended for it must be correct, accessible and only provided to authorized persons.
Information security is achieved by ensuring:
It is the responsibility of every user to follow the policy and regulations for IT and information security.

Under the headings below, you find information that you need to know to be able to protect yourself against cyber attacks and what to do if you suspect an intrusion or breach.
The information is also available in the presentation found under the heading "Seven tips".
When phishing, the sender tries to gain access to your passwords and other sensitive information, which is then used to steal information or to spread viruses on your computer, your shared files or to your contacts.
These scam emails lead to fake websites that require login and where your password is given, often without you even noticing it.
Once the malicious actor is in possession of the password, it can be used to gain access to internal systems and sensitive information. One single user making a mistake might, in worst case, cause severe damage to the entire university and our partners.
If you have received a suspicious email that may be an attempt at phishing, do not click on any links in the email! Instead, report it via the "report" button in Outlook or forward it to incident.response@gu.se.
IRT (Incident Response Team) works to secure the university's network. This is done by analyzing the traffic on parts of the network and by looking for and fixing known security holes that may occur in the systems. IRT also helps when the university's system has been hacked.
During 2022 and 2023, a number of news and/or mailings regarding information and cyber security have been produced:
