GU internal climate fund

In order to balance employees' carbon emissions from air travel, the University of Gothenburg offsets carbon emissions in an internal climate fund. Employees and students can apply for funding from the Fund for projects that reduce the universities´s emissions of greenhouse gases.

The purpose of the Climate Fund is to enable researchers, teachers, students and other employees to actively participate in the university’s efforts to reduce it´s climate impact.

The application form can be download to the right. Deadline for application is November 9, 2018.

The climate fund reimburses the costs incurred according to the application, including indirect costs. Not used funds shall be paid back to the Fund when the project is completed. Funds are granted only projects that cannot be implemented without a financial contribution from the Fund. The amount granted is paid after the vice chancellor made a decision on allocation. The project manager is responsible for reporting the content and costs as directed before the 2019 year end. Co-financing must be indicated in the application. Projects that have already been implemented will not be funded.

Funds can be given to projects that reduce the university's carbon footprint. This may involve direct action projects for energy efficiency or travel free meetings but also projects such as information dissemination and application of research.

Particular emphasis is put on:
• Relevance / effectiveness - Effectiveness in relation to the project cost.
• Innovation – Is the project innovative and can it be spread as a good example to others?
• Feasibility - The project's implementation and possible attainment.

Students wishing to apply for funding from the Climate Fund, please refer to their institution or faculty, depending on whether the project will mainly be carried out in an institution or covering an entire faculty. For projects involving the entire university students are asked to contact the Climate fund coordinator Fredrik Högberg, fredrik.hogberg@gu.se.

Welcome with your application!
