Global Swede - Ceremony and Network for International Students

Every year (usually March-April), universities and colleges from all over the country are invited to nominate their institution's candidate for the Global Swede Ceremony. The event is part of the Swedish Institute's work with alumni and aims to build important long-term relationships with international students in Sweden.

The purpose of the Global Swede ceremony is to draw attention to foreign students and their importance as ambassadors for their country's relations with Sweden, as a potential resource for Swedish industry in their home country and, not least, as ambassadors for Sweden as a destination for higher education.

Universities and colleges from all over the country participate. After the ceremony the Global Swede students will be included in SI's alumni network, which today comprises about 15,000 people from 140 different countries (2018).
