1. The Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket)
This authority handles the national registration and personal identity numbers and also issues the ID-cards for foreigners.
2. The Swedish Social Insurance Agency (Försäkringskassan)
Register with Försäkringskassan as soon as you have received your personal identity number. They handle social benefits and you can read more about this in the section During your stay, see the menue.
Gothenburg is a very attractive place to live, which means that there is a large demand for apartments and furnished rooms, especially at the beginning of each term. Therefore, we recommend that you begin to look for accommodation as soon as possible.
Welcome Services offers temporary accommodation for international researchers. The residences are situated at various addresses in Gothenburg and Mölndal with either walking distance or good communications to the center, and the size varies from single rooms to three rooms and a kitchen.
