Electronic Legal Deposit means "obligation to supply electronic material". According to the law, the University of Gothenburg (like other authorities) must submit digital publications to the National Library of Sweden.
The Legal Deposit Act for Electronic Materials (2012:492) came into force on 1 January 2015. The act articulates the two major criteria for documents which are subject to this act – their public accessibility and their distribution through electronic networks. The publishers of such shall submit all documents drafted after December 31, 2014 to the Swedish National Library.
The University of Gothenburg has, as one of about 60 specially selected publishers, submitted our publicly accessible documents drafted after March 31, 2013. The act also stipulates guidelines for the submission of electronic documents.
In order to comply with the law on electronic legal deposit we need to identify, collect, specify and deliver the relevant electronic material.
The responsibility for complying with the legal deposit act for electronic materials lies at the department where the material was published. The head in charge of the department is ultimately responsible.
The University Library has the responsibility to coordinate the electronic legal deposit. The coordinators arrange training and provide support. Contact the coordinators with questions about electronic legal deposit: e-plikt@gu.se
Most departments have appointed persons that collect and deliver the material. There is a network of contacts (in Swedish) from various parts of the University to facilitate the electronic legal deposit administration.
The staff of the University of Gothenburg can deliver electronic legal deposit via these channels:
