For events in the building, the opening hours are extended as needed.
Vasaparken is a central meeting place for the University of Gothenburg. Employees at departments, faculties, and the Central University Administration are encouraged to carry out activities in the building to a greater extent. To make this possible, the building's furniture and technical equipment have been updated.
Faculties, units, or sections within the Central University Administration are welcome to book the rooms and venues in Vasaparken. This applies, for example, when seminars, guest lectures, in-house training and other events can benefit from being located in a historical setting. The main auditorium is, as before, an appreciated alternative for graduation ceremonies, not least during the month of May.
Vasaparken also houses parts of the Vice Chancellor's Office’s administrative support, which mainly use the beautiful meeting rooms; the Viktor Rydberg Room and the Konsistoriet.
Prospective doctoral students can, in a ceremonial manner, nail their dissertations to the centrally located brass board. Right inside the doors, employees and the public can take part in job announcements, and the reception handles questions from students, employees, tourists and interested citizens of Gothenburg.

The main auditorium is a cultural-historical hall with Art Nouveau murals. At the back of the stage is a mural which depicts a scene with the fire god Heimdall in national romantic style. The hall and balcony combined have 450 seats.
Several of the University's festivals take place here, and the auditorium is also suitable for larger events, conferences, and seminars.
The auditorium is also a suitable and worthy environment for students to gather in for ceremonies such as the start of the semester or graduation.
The impressive entrance hall is supported by four marble pillars, and in the middle of the roof's cross vault hangs a chandelier in oxidised copper. Ekmanhallen is excellent for mingling after graduation ceremonies. The area is also appreciated as an exhibition space for student work.
Up to 120 participants can take part in lectures, seminars, or in-house training in the large room with magnificent windows facing the greenery in Vasaparken. Dissertations are also carried out here. A few times per year the room is transformed into a party hall when newly retired people gather for employment award ceremonies, or when employees who have received the award Nit och Redlighet (those who have worked 30 years for the state) are celebrated in ceremonious forms.
The University’s Conference Services (Mötesservice) handles booking requests for the main auditorium and the Torgny Segerstedt room.

Please note that alcohol consumption is not permitted in the building.
*The act of nailing a dissertation is a Swedish custom and one of the University's oldest tradition. The idea is that the public will have an opportunity to read the dissertation in advance to able to ask questions during the disputation.
The University's main building was completed in 1907 and is today protected by cultural heritage. The property thus has some limitations in terms of accessibility.
From the front, the building can only be reached via stone stairs in two stages, with handrails. To reach an entrance with a ramp and without a level difference, follow the paved road that runs along the facade to the left of the house, towards Götabergsgatan. The entrance is at the back of the building. It is possible to drive all the way to the back entrance and drop off passengers, or park in one of the four parking spaces for vehicles with a permit.
The doors to the building are equipped with a door opener. A spacious lift measuring 145 X 110 cm gives all visitors access to the second floor and the meeting rooms there, as well as access to the basement floor for employees. However, there are no door openers on the doors leading to the meeting rooms.
