The guidelines for remote defence of a doctoral thesis due to the coronavirus situation have been revised in response to the new Vice Chancellor's decision of 20 November.
On 17 March 2020, the Vice Chancellor made the decision to switch to remote education at the University of Gothenburg, in order to reduce the spread of COVID-19. In conjunction with this, guidelines for the defence of a doctoral thesis were developed (dated to 23 March 2020).
On 20 November 2020, the Swedish government decided to adjust the regulations on public gatherings and events. These adjustments mean that starting from 24 November it is prohibited to host public gatherings and events with more than 8 participants. Because of this, the Vice Chancellor decided on 20 November 2020 that no events with more than 8 people should, as a rule, be held on University premises (between 24 November 2020 and 19 January 2021).
Because of this, the guidelines for remote defence of a doctoral thesis have been revised in accordance with current regulations and the Vice Chancellor's decision.
