The Pam Fredman Award is presented annually to one deserving teacher and researcher or group of teachers and researchers who, in the spirit of Pam Fredman, have made a valuable contribution to social sustainability and lifelong learning.
The award, consisting of a diploma and a grant to the department/equivalent of SEK 20,000 per award winner, or a maximum of SEK 50,000, is to be used for the winner’s professional advancement. It will be presented at the university’s conferment ceremony in October each year.
All those who teach or carry out research at the University of Gothenburg are eligible to be nominated and any student or employee of the university can nominate someone. Nominations must include a motivation and contact information for the nominee.
The nomination period is from 1 January until 31 March in the year that the award is to be presented.
On the expiration of the nomination period, an awards committee appointed by the Vice-Chancellor will process all nominations. The committee is also entitled to recommend award winners, meaning that no member of the committee or anyone closely related to them can be considered for the award.
The University Board will announce the winners based on the committee’s recommendations.
Pam Fredman served as vice-chancellor of the University of Gothenburg from 2006-2017. As a farewell gift to her an award was instituted in consideration of her considerable engagement in the issue of sustainable development – specifically social sustainability and lifelong learning.
We are now welcoming nominations for the 2024 Award.
